March, 2024
Voted in favor of funding Sexual Assault Resources at YWCA
Funding for Stepping Stones, a counseling and referral service for survivors of SA was opposed by local Republicans. Corey was very vocal in supporting the funding, which passed.
January 2024
Opposed Racist Anti-Migrant Resolution
Spoke out forcefully against extremist efforts to waste county resources and time in discriminatory efforts to ban migrants from McLean County

Supported Unit 5 Referendum and Quality School Board Candidates
Corey's primary work is as an elementary school teacher. Corey is proud to be a strong advocate for public schools and was heavily involved in efforts to support the referendum and quality school board candidates. Despite threats to Corey and calls for his arrest and investigation, the referendum passed and extremists decisively lost their elections.
November 2022
Elected to County Board and job cut in same night
Corey's first election night also saw the first round of the Unit 5 Referendum on the ballot. In a surprise, the referendum lost in its first attempt. This put Corey's job as a Unit 5 music teacher in serious jeopardy. Corey spoke to the media that night, and his comments eventually proved true, as the referendum was overwhelmingly approved by voters later that spring.

Spoke Out Against Guns in Schools
School shootings are always a horrific story, but the Uvalde shootings of 2022 were traumatizing. As a teacher, Corey has spent many hours looking at his classroom as potentially an environment to be defended. The Uvalde shootings, its response, and the discussions surrounding it showed our nation has a long way to go to address these issues.

Black Lives Matter
Corey stood in support of George Floyd with the rest of the community in the aftermath of his murder in May of 2020 and beyond. He and family members (pictured here outside the courthouse in January 2021 with his wife Abby) were in attendance at rallies in which peaceful protestors were attacked. Corey believes Black Lives Matter and political extremism and violence have no place in political discourse.
